Research has shown that magnesium deficiencies can cause headaches, or worse yet, migraines. You may be magnesium deficient if you find yourself with cold hands and feet, if you wake up in the middle of the night with muscle cramps, or (as mentioned) if you experience regular, severe head pain. The good news, however, is that you can stop these symptoms before they start by whipping up this nutrient-rich smoothie recipe!

Both sweet potatoes and spinach contain high concentrations of magnesium, and when blended together with the flavors and spices below, taste as indulgent as a piece of pie! What could be better than that?

Sweet Potato Pie Smoothie

  • 1 cup almond milk
  • 1 cup cooked sweet potato
  • 1 handful (about ½ cup) baby spinach
  • 1 banana
  • 1 teaspoon freshly grated ginger
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 tablespoon honey
  • ½ teaspoon cinnamon
  • ¼ teaspoon allspice

  1. Combine all ingredients in a blender and blend until smooth.
