Dr. Juan Antonio Woo – Education and Experience

Juan Antonio Woo, MD is a native Texan, originally from El Paso. Following in the footsteps of his physician siblings, Dr. Woo was eager to keep his family tradition alive and moved to Houston to be close to them.

Dr. Woo’s focus and interests are comprehensive pain management and advanced minimally invasive techniques for treatment of neck and back pain, nerve pain, post-surgical pain and joint pain. He uses a multi-modal approach including physical therapy, acupuncture, pain psychology, massage, medications and interventional procedures such as fluoroscopic and ultrasound guided nerve injections, radio frequency ablations, and spinal cord stimulation. While his goal is to provide safe and effective treatment, he believes that each patient is unique and tailors a specific plan to help manage their pain.

Dr. Woo received his MD at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center and completed his Residency in Anesthesiology at the University of Illinois at Chicago. During his Fellowship in Pain Medicine at the University of Illinois at Chicago, he earned the title of Chief Fellow.

Dr. Woo is a board-certified physician. In addition to receiving multiple awards and honors, Dr. Woo has several publications in Engineering in Medicine and Biology Society.

Woo believes in therapies that focus on each patients unique situation, while keeping patient safety and efficacy at the forefront of his treatment plans.

Education

Juan Antonio Woo, MD is a native Texan, originally from El Paso. Dr. Woo is a board-certified physician and an active member of the American Society of Interventional Pain Physicians and the American Society of Anesthesiologists. During Woo’s fellowship, he earned the title of Chief Fellow and received awards for Presentation in Education. He was also chosen to present at many Anesthesia Residents Conferences.

Thought Leadership

Dr. Woo joined U.S. Anesthesia Partners in 2013 as an Anesthesiologist. Through this experience, he saw the first hand complexities of pain and soon realized the importance of this specialty and desired the knowledge and skills to treat these conditions. With an increasing number of new and complex drugs, techniques, and technologies becoming available every year for the treatment of pain management, Dr. Woo believes in therapies that focus on each patients unique situation, while keeping patient safety and efficacy at the forefront of his treatment plans.

Personal

Dr. Woo is a family-oriented man and is the youngest of three. Family is most important to Dr. Woo and he appreciates the tight bond he shares with his siblings, which is what brought him to Houston. He relishes in the city life and enjoys going to festivals, parks and many other great benefits Houston has to offer. As a health and fitness enthusiast, Dr. Woo enjoys the outdoors. One of his hobbies is hiking and he recently summited at Mt. Rainier, the highest mountain in the state of Washington.
